Explaining turn #4 Empty

Looking at the basic data:

This time the data didn't change much except that the people have a new important resource to track, cattle. Faith and fear of drethnor is going up at a fairly decent pace, and the population is back up to 45 again!

Explaining turn #4 Empty

Examining the Description:

Even with a lot more planning things still are spinning a bit out of control here which is making for a GREAT game. Drethnor is getting more out of his actions than he expects and I'm having a ball. He did manage to curb the malnutrition a bit by adding milk to the peoples diet, but the prophet and his people who "own" the cattle have used it to gain power over the tribe. The hunters, the scavengers, and especially the women have come in lower on a new tribal hiarchy that places the herdsmen at the TOP.

Since herding has less to do with the trained or wild vultures than hunting this is not merely human nature asserting itself, but also an obscure threat to Drethnor's own divine status. Previously the hunters and scavengers both were relying heavilly on the vulture god's favor and his sacred birds.

Being inexperienced though Drethnor doesn't see the threat just now. Later though it will become more apparent to him. Remeber this is a new player who didn't have access to these sample turns or my explanation of everything that's going on in them.

The Conversation:

The conversation is actually fairly interesting this turn. Drethnor isn't sure he likes the new tribal setup, but he sees that it makes sense. His big issue isn't the demotion of hunting or scavenging though but the rise of the patriarchy; which is common in nomadic tribal societies. He doesn't want his women to be second class citizens.

Ironically he's addressing (or at least postponing) the diminishment of his status as the tribes deity here too by helping them out directly. He's giving them two important skills; first off he's providing them with fire which real world tribes found to be VERY important, and second he is giving them both cooking and leather working.

This makes it more likely that the the vulture will eventually be relegated to the status of favored pet and/or totem animal rather than being set aside completely as the tribe stops emulating the birds so much and starts actually raising cattle and tanning leather. Drethnor doesn't realize it but he's starting the transition of his image in the minds of the people from scavenger/vulture god over to wise teacher god and protector. Little changes like this can make a big difference over time.

His mehod of teaching and lifting up the women also will have further reaching effects than he plans, but by now the player is getting used to THAT. Drethnor is good at rolling with the punches.
