Description

The past century blessed Mesnoth's people with fertility and good health. In the first years after the huts were erected all the women in the village had twins. Two perfect children, a boy and a girl. Each one had light chocolate skin, slanted almond eyes, long straight black hair, and perfect big white teeth. Oddest of all each of the children had eyes the same light blue color as the god's obelisk. An eye color the people had never seen before!

These strange god children grew big and strong living in the shadow of Mesnoth's Great Obelisk. Over the next generation every child born was touched by the god bearing his mark as a race of their own. In a single generation the people grew from a few families into a mighty tribe!

The building efforts to house all of those people without infringing on the feilds, epecially the yams led to some major developments. House building efforts led to better boats based on the basketlike roofs. At first these were as clunky as the rafts and prone to turn over, but eventually they settled into an efficient canoe shape with an outrigger for stability.

The need for space soon led to the people lashing rafts to the top of rows of these canoes to form larger pontoons. They built new huts on top of these and pushed them into position in deeper water out beyond the manboo, rice, and mansa feilds. These new huts are held in place by Manboo poles set into the silty riverbed.

Two rows of pontoon huts now completely encircle the island which is almost entirely covered by the people's yam feilds. Your original half circle of huts still stand, but these are reserved for the tribes twelve oldest members. These twelve honored souls sit as a high council that rules over all the people.

About fifty years into the turn your first obelesk seed rose out of the muck in front of the original crystal. It's a rectangular glowing crytal 6 foot long, two foot wide, and two foot tall. Like it's parent it glows with a soft blue light where it rests beneath the water.

Mesnoth's Post:

I like the way the rising population has driven them to develop the technology more and actually move away from the island a bit. The council of elders structure isn't bad for this stage of the game either that can develop a lot of different ways. Very nice. Much better than my cabbage people were doing about now.

(1) I'd forgotten about my seed, no way are we ready to expand outward my people are too pacifistic and the delta is too dangerous at the moment so I guess I lose it this turn. However I'm going to use a few faith points to lift the slab up off the bottom of the river and place it on land squarely in the center of the elders half circle of huts. Like a glowing blue crystal altar with the long side facing the obelisk.

(2) I'd like to locate a nearby source of clay there should be some nearby.

(3) Having found the clay I want show the people how they can sharpen manboo stalks into usable spears and fill them with soft clay and pebbles which when it drys will give the spear some heft. This is probably going to have to be a mass vision to the young men teaching them the basics of how to hunt small game within the delta without getting slaughtered. Will this have to be two visions to include all the elders too? I want the maximum number of hunters I can with my normal points, but I also don't want the elders to SQUISH my new and dangerous technology.

(4) I'd like to show the elders how they can use their pontoon hut technology in a different way. I want them to make small pontoon boats with just one wall and position them in a circle around the village, lashing each wall together and anchoring them to the river bed the same way they do with their houses. I'll have them leave one or two smaller walls floating free with handles to that they can use them as doors to get in and out of the village.

(1) Done this is a 8 point action because the block is so large and heavy, however you suffer a 25% penalty when effecting your crystals or the aura so it winds up being a ten point cost.

(2) Done, the delta is full of industrial grade clay and a nearby deposit is easy to find.

(3) yes you'll need two mass visions at 9 points each, which means a total of 18 points for this, you don't have enough. Might I suggest cutting the number of hunters in half and just using one vision?

(4) You don't have the points to do this now.

(1) I'm going to hold off on this action, the block isn't hurting anything at the bottom of the river. That will give me the 9 points for a second mass vision to get my wall started. I figure that's more important this turn.

(3) I'm ok with that, it's not my ideal but I'm short on points. I'll make sure the hunters I teach know to spread the knowledge around to the other men.

(4) I'll get this one done now. Smile
